I would love to get ahold of a C64... just too pricy for my pocket. Are you using the RS232 WIFI interface to connect it and what are you using for storage. Seen many ways people are doing it now... I follow Retro Recipes on YTand saw how he was doing it.

I'd love to see it in action! I'm
quite nostalgic thinking back, my
first experiences online were with > C64 and a 300 baud Anchor
Signalman modem. Remembering the fi > time I connected to BBSes, my
computer wasn't just local, but a
connection to a whole world of
information. I still feel that way, > suppose. :)

Great. I am online with Putty for once. But otherwise, it's just more awesome with the real C64.I am now online with my real C64Me too! Happen to be on the ol'
breadbin at the moment. Got my board
answering PETSCII on port 2064, too!

Thanks, I haven't looked at EBay fer ages, mainly because I haven't got a major credit card to pay for an item there.
Long time ago I told a neighbor about a thing I was wanting and the neighbor stood me someone was selling what I wanted .

Based on the prices here on eBay Germany, I'd say (in dollars):
C64 functional with power supply - $50-80
1541 - $100
Modem - $50
Acoustic coupler - $150-200
RS232 adapter (new) - $50
These are only approximate estimates and could be incorrect.
Overall, everything has become more expensive.
But there are still bargains to be found -
maybe not necessarily on eBay.

As I told MRO, I will take a look at eBay to see what Commodore gear is for sale there.

After we Loaded the terminal(?) PRG I Saved it to disk and his jaw dropped when he noticed how quick that small PRG got Saved on the floppy disk.
...
A few days later he was the proud owner of a 1541 too
A friend had a C=64 before I bought
mine and told me that after typing a
BASIC PRG in and running it after he
finished using the PRG it would have
to
be entered in again the next day if
he
wanted to RUN it.

is that someone else saying that? I dont see that post.
that's all nice but just go on ebay and buy one if you want it.

That's crazy. That would have really
annoyed me. I was lucky back in 1983
to be able to start with a 1541 on
the C64. Exactly the 1541 that I now
currently have as Drive #9 on the
C64 Snobsoft BBS. Yes, the floppy
with its 42 years is thus even older
than Snobsoft and still works.

I'm not keen on either Debit or Credit (cards).
For my first internet purchase I sent an email asking if the seller would accept my personal check and delay shipping the item till the check cleared.
I got the 1541 the same day I got
the
computer as You did.
It still is #8, a 1581 is #9 here.
Months later I HAD to have a 1526
Printer which cost $350.00 USD,
Ouch!

I will check and see if there are any stores that have a eBay card.
I have got a Amazon prepaid card to use for Amazon purchases before.
Thanks for the suggestion.
